"My family and I entered the Family Promise shelter after six months in a hotel through a different shelter. Six months in a hotel with no help and no progress really.
I came into the area to visit a family member. While visiting, they urged me to reach out to Family Promise. Eventually I did. The staff welcomed my family and I with open arms from the beginning even while we were in a hotel in the area. Within a week we were moving into the shelter.
I could go on for pages about how accommodating the shelter is and how loving the staff are. But I will make this long story short. When we entered the shelter, I was given housing applications that I filled out. Those applications turned out to be very important and helpful.
It was a journey but I was able to secure a job and then soon after housing. It's been a journey. My sons and I were homeless for over a year. I can honestly say that with the support of the Family Promise staff, we were able to successfully transition into stable housing."

Our Fairways for Families Annual Golf Outing will be held on September 15, 2025 at Fire Ridge Golf Course in Grafton.
